Holidays in Mexico

Some holidays that Mexicans celebrate are Día de los Muertos, Independence Day, Virgin Guadalupe, Cinco de Mayo, and many more. Día de los Muertos is on November 2nd, when Hispanics celebrate the day of the dead. They remember all their ancestors that passed away and make food and light up candles either inside the house or at the graveyard. Mexicans celebrate the Virgin Mary on December 12. There usually is party where mariachi bands are playing in the background in honor of the Virgin Mary. Independence Day in Mexico is celebrated on September 16th. It is when Mexico declared its independence from Spain because Spain wanted to concur Mexico. The president of Mexico will scream “Viva Mexico” while banging the bell. It lets people know how proud that we won the war against Spain. There are fireworks and people dancing with music in the streets. The type of music that is more often played during special events is mariachi bands. Mexican culture impacted me to become a more minded person and adapting to American culture was a challenge.
